Fishing Party Guide

Group Fishing offers significant advantages, primarily through a stacking buff that speeds up the hook time for everyone nearby. While you can fish anywhere, grouping up is the fastest way to acquire fish and level the skill.
Group Fishing Mechanics
The core benefit of fishing with others is the Fishing Buff.
- Buffing Others: Every time a player successfully catches a fish, they grant a temporary Fishing Speed Buff to all players fishing within a 10 meter radius.
- Speeding Up: This buff reduces the time it takes for fish to bite by 10%.
- Stacking: The buff stacks up to 5 times, increasing fishing speed for the entire group by up to 50%.
- Proximity Loot: By fishing near party members, each player has a chance to earn double rewards of their own catch.
Group Fishing Best Practices
- Stay Together: Ensure you and your party members are close enough to receive the stacking buff when a fish is caught.
- Bait Use: High-tier bait (like Worms or Glow Worms) is still necessary for catching rarer fish, even in a group.
- Ripples: Focus on fishing spots with ripples for the highest chance of catching star-quality fish.
Etiquette & Communication
Fishing is generally a relaxed group activity, but a few courtesies help maintain a peaceful environment.
- Lures: If you use a lure (e.g., a glow worm or a golden lure), announce it in Nearby Chat. This signals to others that you are aiming for rare fish and they should join to receive the speed buff.
- Space: Keep a reasonable distance from other players so you don't crowd their screen, but stay close enough to ensure the stacking buff is shared.
- Loot: Unlike wood or ore, fishing loot is not shared. Every player catches their own fish, so there is no need to wait for others before reeling in.
Maximizing Your Catch
Location and Time
- Oceans (Bahari Bay Coast): Good for rarer aquatic insects, shells, and occasionally Unopened Oysters.
- Ponds/Rivers (Kilima Valley): Best for common fish needed for cooking or requests.
- Time of Day: Be aware that some of the rarest fish are only available during specific in-game hours (day or night).
Progression
- Rods: Upgrade your fishing rod as soon as you can to handle tougher, higher-value fish. Recipes are available from Einar at the local beach.
- Einar: Einar is the Fishing Guild NPC. He sells higher-tier rods and various baits, and is usually found by the shore in Kilima Village.
