Bug Catching becomes significantly more rewarding when played together with friends. The key advantage is that multiple players can capture and receive loot from the same bug, making group play especially valuable for rare and legendary catches. This shared loot system ensures everyone benefits from each successful capture, creating a win-win scenario for all participants.

Group Bug Catching Mechanics

Group Bug Catching relies on multiple players successfully hitting and looting a single bug.

Shared Loot

  • Full Rewards: Any player who contributes to a bug before it is defeated receives full, separate loot and XP. You do not split the loot; everyone gets their own full drop.
  • Proximity Loot: When catching bugs near party members, you'll automatically receive loot from bugs they catch, even if you didn't land a hit. This shared loot is identical for all nearby party members and has a chance to be doubled!

Tools and Lures

Upgrade your gear with recipes from Auni, the Bug Catching Guild Leader.

Gear

  • Belts and Bombs: Upgrade your Bug Catching Belt for more bomb slots, and your Smoke Bombs for a larger capture radius and increased effectiveness.
  • The Honey Lure: This crafted item is placed on the ground and will attract rare bug species to the area. It's an excellent focus for group hunts - place the lure, then work as a team to capture the concentrated swarm of high-value bugs that appear.
  • Flares: Use Flare Arrows (bought from Hassian) to mark the exact location of a rare bug, which is especially helpful for players coming from a distance.

Etiquette & Communication

Bug Catching in group is less about speed and more about fairness and helping others complete their collections.

Capture Protocol

  • Callouts and Waiting: If you spot a rare bug, call it out in Server Chat. Do not capture the bug before asking if anyone is "omw" (on my way) and waiting a reasonable time for them to arrive.
  • Signal Ready: Once a few players have gathered, someone can say "Throw!" or "Go!" to initiate the simultaneous capture.
